Flowers for Jane

It's been a while since Jane hosted one of her fabulous FITH parties. So when the call came on Friday I panicked. Most of my flowers aren't ready for cutting yet. Lilacs are coming in beautifully but not ready. The tons of tulip bulbs I bought in Amsterdam and planted last Fall got a bit of a chomping from the huge deer population, by the time I noticed and sprayed them with the concoction only five buds were left. Next year I'll get them sooner....she said.

Sooooooo, Trader Joe's it is.

Hope all goes well!

  2. I want to see pictures of your lilacs, as soon as they bloom. And if you can find a way to share the fragrance it would be much appreciated!. Pretty tulips--thank goodness for Trader Joe's!

  3. I want to see lilacs as well. Funny, I've never thought to grow them, even though I love them. But yes, thank goodness for Trader Joes...they have cheered me up many times!
    Have a wonderful day!

    1. I inherited my lilac bushes, they were already here, and it is probably my favorite. That aroma is so intoxicating. Don't know how we ever survived before Trader Joe's.

  5. Trader Joes is always a good idea, when one needs flowers on short notice. So tempting, and so reasonable ... can't possibly go wrong.

  6. Oh, what a fun way of discovering your blog. I'm late to this particular party but I'm fully on-board with FITH.

I'm a fan of lilacs but, alas, do not grow in my garden. I look forward to a future posting showing the results of your cultivating efforts.

Thank you for stopping by earlier and commenting on my blog, which is how I discovered yours.

  7. Joe's tulips are lovely - but then aren't ALL tulips lovely? Can't wait to see your lilacs, but how do you keep them inside. I cut some today, but normally they just droop by the next day. Got any tips? thanks.

  8. You could try winding a wire around the base of the head/top of the stem.Works for roses and gerberas.

  9. Well Amelia, at least you joined Jane. I was so happy to see her invitation, but then I couldn't get my act together to join her. Your photo is very pretty BTW.
