Lots of flowers in the house

Two years ago we decided our lilacs needed trimming, so with much trepidation and heeding all kinds of advice and research we proceeded to trim away making sure it was within the crucial two week after blooming period. Last year the blooms were paltry and we thought we had done some damage. Wrong! This year the profusion of blooms is happily over the top
and we've been able to have them in the house for weeks
so to quote Bloodstone and thanks to that aroma we'll take to the sky on a natural high.

And since everything is about a month early we have loads of flowers in the house

which makes me a little nervous

wondering
what will be left in June
but we'll worry about that tomorrow

for now we'll just breathe the sweet air and skip over to the ever charming Jane's for the monthly Flowers in the house party to celebrate a BIG anniversary and see what everybody else is up to.

  1. You've got it all going on here Amelia.

Both your flowers and your house are beautiful.

June? Nada I'm afraid. So enjoy today, right?

    1. It's my favorite. It used to be dwarfed by a giant branch of something and then one day it was hit by lightning so the dogwood took off. the heavens were listening.

    1. Yes, we have stupid smiles on our faces. Must be drunk from the smell. Sadly, this is it.

  4. The flowers are gorgeous, but I'm in love with vase no 1 and 2, as well as that beautiful soap dish!

    1. Thank you Karen. Vase no 1 I found over 20 years ago in an antique (read:junk) shop for the astronomical price of $3.00. Vase no 2, a gift from my husband from a business trip. I think I'll keep him.

  5. Amelia... the lilacs are pretty and am sure the fragrance divine, but the lovely dogwood captures my heart. Ours came and went much too quickly this year. Know the time for crepe myrtles is just around the corner. The lovely pinks, reds, lavendars, and whites will be spectacular in the deep heat of summer here!

    1. Susan, the dogwood is my favorite and we had the same problem because of the early warm weather, gone in the blink of an eye. My crepes come in in late Summer and didn't do so well last year; I suspect it's because they need some serious trimming. They usually put on quite a show but it can't rival the one down South which is truly spectacular. Can't wait to see!

  8. Never considered using wisteria as a cut flower - what a wonderful idea.
And that bouquet of lilacs looks like a Fantin-Latour painting.....

    1. I can't resist bringing everything I can in (obviously). The wisteria doesn't last long in a vase, maybe a couple of days and then they begin to shed but it's worth it. And thank you for the lilac complement, it gives me an idea to try and emulate his paintings---setting the bar a bit too high I think :)
