The mini heatwave had me quite worried, the hydrangeas were droopier than I'd ever seen them and I frankly thought they might not recover. But then the heat broke and took the icky humidity with it which in turn let everything perk right back up and let us practically move outside for the beautiful weekend
but not before we cut some flowers
and had loads of fun arranging them
and spreading them throughout
cause we need flowers in the house.
It's party day at Jane's
which is always so much fun. Can't wait to see what everyone else has brought.
They are lovely! And I spy a fine cookbook collection and some beautiful wood cabinets and counters in your house...
ReplyDeleteFabulous Amelia, makes me want to bury my face in them and sigh.
ReplyDeleteI envy you the soil that keeps your hydrangeas blue.
And I must see I like that glimpse I see of the kitchen counter.....
Max, what a good looking boy.
xo Jane
Lovely - what are the spiky things? And I like the way you have those earthenware-looking jars as vases.
ReplyDeleteThank you. We call the spiky things goosenecks, for obvious reasons. I think their official name is loosestrife. That's an old mustard crock.
DeleteI've only recently discovered just how fun they are to play around with. It's the best part. Yours are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are fun, especially when they are so abundant.
DeleteLove the blue hydrangea, so cool and refreshing. What a good looking dog!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I won't tell him you said that; he is spoiled rotten and his head's big enough.
Deletewhat a pretty combination of hydrangea. Is it all the same variety?
ReplyDeleteActually I think they're all from the same bush, except for the couple of stray lacecaps I threw in.
DeleteCan't wait for a summer filled with hydrangeas- too beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGoing to have to sneak in with my flowers in the house in the morning...
I can't get enough of them, thinking of adding an oakleaf...Good the party continues.
DeleteHoly cats! (Don't tell Max I said that!) I cannot believe how blue your hydrangea are! So pretty Amelia!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, they have a deep shade; wish I could remember what variety they are. Despite his grumblings Max likes cats, my neighbor has 3 that love to hang around my yard so he figured he'd better get used to them since they're not going anywhere.
DeleteHi Amelia, I discovered you through Janes pardy!
ReplyDeleteYour Hydrangeas are gorge! Still waiting on ours in the garden but they're on their way.
Paul:)
Hi Paul, thanks for stopping by. Jane is the world's blog ambassador. The more the merrier.
Deletewow! Lovely hydrangeas! You have a nice kitchen with all these books :)
ReplyDeleteGracias Alicia.
DeleteKudos to you for using the gooseneck loosestrife. They are in bloom here, but I never thought to bring them indoors. Thanks for the suggestion.
ReplyDeleteRay
They're so much fun and thankfully abundant. They really don't last long at all indoors so be warned. I'm having an awful time getting into your comment section ??? Love your coneflowers!
DeleteThanks. I sometimes have problems leaving comments on Blogger sites, and almost always when using a tablet (iPad.) I just went to my blog and got "Service Unavailable - Error 503" Thanks Blogger.
